Name: Nathaniel Birthday: 11/18/1980 Gender: Male
Interests: I'm interested in using this site to point you toward God, and encourage you to consider His work in your life, to realize the incredible atonement that Christ has made for the sins of all who will believe in Him, and to set Him first in all you do. Expertise: None. But I will use this space to explain that readthepreface refers to the Old Testament. If you're a believer, you should be reading your old testament. It is not just the preface, it's the Word of God, and it means just as much, when you are enlightened by the Holy Spirit's regenerative work. If you're not a believer, read Matthew. It'll be a good introduction to what the old testament is talking about. Occupation: Student

The Stanford U. Tomorrow's Professor mailing list (http://ctl.stanford.edu/Tomprof/index.shtml) deposited this article in my inbox this morning.
It raises some good points. I'm not a big fan of ID in it's own right, since I think it compromises on some important points, but even my own worldview needs some work to address some of her objections.
One thing though, which I'm sure the author would fix if I had the opportunity to ask her about it, is that she starts by talking about understanding the world (first sentence) and ends by talking about understanding science (2nd to last sentence). I think this weakens her argument a little.
Of course, her worldview still has to answer the question "What's the point of the world?"
| I should have done this a couple of months ago. Here's the website my fiancee and I created for our wedding:
We're Getting Married!
Check it out... | | |
| Well, I've been needing some of this: http://www.desiringgod.org/library/sermons/84/061784.html
Everybody working toward marriage should check that out. I pray that God uses it to strengthen you by His Spirit in your inner man.
| This is a selcouth collection of underused words. I'm sure Gary, Jeremy and Rachel will appreciate it. There are a couple in there that are actually quite useful. I think 'famulus' is my favorite at the moment.

| I'm hanging out in places like the library and the student center while I write my thesis because it's (somewhat) less distracting than my office. And today I realized something. There are young men here who are trying to be 'thug 4 life' and pursue higher education. I'm not very familiar with thug culture, but it seems like the roller mill of the (80% white)state university would either spit them out or process them into something more conformist. I'm not sure why I hadn't noticed this before. Maybe I'm just used to seeing upperclassmen who have been processed into conformists. | | |
